In a graduate level classroom setting, a Black woman artist requests that her peers and professor wear their pajamas to a performance the following week and come with a list of their desires and fantasies to share. Historically, her work has been sexually provocative and the presumption is that the performance will be in this vein. All students in the class are required to attend her piece. How might you handle this scenario to more deeply consider consent and comfort of all parties?

Scenario 2:

You are the director of an immersive theater piece that is intentionally daring, racy, asks the audience to be bold. It involves a series of one-on-one scenes with performers and audience members, including the following:

-actor washes the feet of an audience member

-actor starts confessing their sins of being unfaithful to their partner and wants the audience member to do the same

-actor wants to look at pictures on the audience member’s phone

-a scene in which medical imagery of an IV being inserted into an arm is shown
