TO HAVE AN ODYSSEY MADE FOR YOU
Imagine waking up to find yourself immersed in a performance that is all about you. Since 2001, Odyssey Works has been creating immersive, durational experiences for an audience of one. Our team is made up of artists in dozens of disciplines who study the life of one individual and use whatever means necessary to create intimate, meaningful performances that last days, weeks, or months, and occur not on a stage but interwoven with the life of our audience of one. The experiences are transformative; most of our participants change jobs, move, make new commitments to loved ones shortly after their Odysseys.
Now, for the first time since 2019, we are accepting applications from people interested in receiving this once-in-a-lifetime experience. The Odyssey will be held in and around Franche-Comté, a cultural and historical region in eastern France in May 2024. If you are selected for an Odyssey, a 36-48 hour experience will be created just for you. For Free. You are only responsible for your travel expenses to Vesoul, France.
The experience will be designed as part of a Master Class by a selected cohort of Fellows. These Fellows will join Odyssey Works Director Ayden LeRoux and Associate Director Sophie Larsmon for one week to learn our secrets from two decades of designing experiences for one-person audiences. Applications to join the Master Class will be announced in November 2023.

While this is an application, it is not like other applications; we are not looking to be impressed by people who are smart, accomplished, or even more interesting than other people. Nor is it a psychological analysis or a personality test. Rather, we are looking for someone whose way of taking in the world connects with how we are currently working. We are also looking for someone who is open minded, willing, and honest.
Filling out the questionnaire takes at least two hours. Many people fill it out little by little over the course of several days. They report that just engaging with that level of self-inquiry is a powerful experience. We receive far more applications than we can offer Odysseys for. Finalists will be asked to participate in a videoconference interview.
